Founded in 2016, Papaya set out to simplify the highly manual US bill payment process. In partnership with Luby, the fintech developed an innovative mobile app that uses AI and computer vision to streamline payments, reduce bureaucracy, and improve the user experience. This transformative approach attracted significant investor interest, driving Papaya’s growth and increasing its valuation.
To expand its reach in the US market, Papaya partnered with Luby to develop a native Android app for nearly half of American consumers. Initially developed in Java and later upgraded to Kotlin, the app used computer vision to automate invoice data capture and seamless online payments. Agile methods enabled the team to improve usability, refine functionality, and align the product with market needs.
